15 Apr City of Renton Lighting Retrofit Project

Lumenal Lighting is proud to support the City of Renton through a comprehensive municipal lighting retrofit program delivered in partnership with McKinstry. With more than four decades of experience delivering public-sector lighting upgrades throughout Washington and Oregon, our team brings a proven, audit-to-install approach that aligns well with General Contractor-led (GC-led) project delivery models.
This project spans multiple City facilities with varied operational needs, access constraints, and public-facing environments. Lumenal’s scope includes interior and exterior LED fixture retrofits, occupancy and photo sensor integration, code corrections, and support for monitoring and verification (M&V) requirements. All work is performed by licensed electricians experienced in occupied and mission-critical facilities.

Project Aligned Project Delivery
Lumenal’s project management approach emphasizes clarity, predictability, and proactive coordination. Scheduling, materials tracking, and reporting are managed through structured project controls to ensure alignment with General Contractors and City stakeholders. Dedicated field supervision supports daily quality control, accurate as-built documentation, and timely resolution of field conditions.
Installation is completed by dedicated crews (Journeyman and Apprentice), with flexibility to support day, swing, or night shifts as required. Larger and more complex facilities are prioritized early to validate coordination and maintain efficiency across the program.
Safety, Compliance, and Quality Assurance
Safety and compliance are foundational to Lumenal’s municipal work. Lumenal enforces site-specific safety plans, weekly toolbox talks, daily personal protective equipment (PPE) inspections, and strict lockout/tagout procedures. All crews meet Washington State licensing, prevailing wage, and apprenticeship requirements. Certified payroll and labor compliance are managed internally.
Quality assurance includes continuous field oversight, deficiency tracking, and coordinated punch-list completion. Lumenal provides pre- and post-installation light level readings, power measurements, and photo documentation to support M&V requirements.

Materials, Recycling, and Closeout
Materials are staged and verified prior to mobilization and tracked throughout installation. Removed lamps, ballasts, and fixtures are sorted for proper recycling, with Certificates of Recycling included in project closeout documentation.
Final deliverables include as-built documentation, operations and maintenance (O&M) manuals, material logs, warranty certificates, and M&V support files. Lumenal provides a one-year labor warranty for workmanship and remains available post-installation to support commissioning and service needs.
