JOURNEYMAN ELECTRICIAN – OREGON (PORTLAND TO EUGENE CORRIDOR)

Journeyman Electrician (Portland to Eugene Corridor)

Lumenal Lighting is privately held electrical contracting company specializing in energy efficiency and green energy projects such as lighting retrofits, lighting control, building management system, solar, frequency drives, motors, fans, EVS, and power quality improvements. Established in 1980 we provide solutions in the commercial, industrial, and institutional marketplace throughout the Pacific Northwest. We are currently seeking well qualified journeymen electricians licensed in the state of Oregon as well as lighting maintenance workers qualified in the state of Oregon. Primary work area will be in the I-5 corridor from the Portland metropolitan market to Eugene. They must have the ability to effectively work in a cooperative team environment and demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, communication and time management skills.

Requirements and Aspects for the Position:

  • A valid OR state Electrical Journeyman License
  • A strong mix of prevailing wage and commercial/industrial work
  • Ability to show up on time and be communicative
  • Most work are shifts of 5 eight-hour days or 4 ten-hour days
  • Work day, swing or night shifts depending on the job
  • Work out of town depending on the project. Lodging and per diem will be provided
  • Pass a drug test, vehicle record and background check.
  • Driven to be pro-active and timely
  • Controls experience a plus
  • Possess a current driver’s license
  • Eligible to work legally in the United States
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Have all hand tools and cordless drill as needed for the project
  • Must be ready, willing and able to show up every day to learn new skills, follow instructions, take initiative and lead by example

ABOUT THE JOB

Lumenal Lighting has an excellent full time, entry/mid-level opportunity available. We’re an established, busy, growing electrical contractor and energy efficiency company based in Mountlake Terrace, working primarily in Washington & Oregon. The successful candidate for this position will work directly with the Warehouse Manager to provide outstanding support for our Operations, Retrofit and Service departments and field crews. The typical career path for this role is to assume the Warehouse Manager role and/or begin school and move into field work as an Apprentice and eventually Journeyman Electrician.

COMPENSATION / HOURS

  • $15/hr to start, $17.50 after 60 days
  • 100% company-paid health/dental/vision insurance
  • PTO accrual to 2 weeks/year
  • 401(k)
  • Paid electrical school tuition upon entering apprenticeship program
  • MON-FRI, generally 7AM-3:30PM, with frequent overtime as required

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • Be 21 years of age
  • Have an insurable driving record
  • Be able to safely lift and move 50 lbs
  • Ability to safely operate non-CDL commercial trucks to 26’/26,000 GVW
  • Be able to pass:
    • Pre-employment drug screen
    • Background checks for military bases, schools, etc.
    • DOT physical

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience:
    • Working in a warehouse environment
    • Shipping & receiving
    • Material handling, including using a pallet jack, operating forklifts & scissor lifts
    • Loading/offloading & safely operating box trucks up to 26′ / 26,000 GVW
    • Loading/offloading & pulling trailers
    • Performing electrical/lighting work, especially in construction, retrofit & service environments
  • Prior fork/scissor/boom lift certification(s)
  • Familiar with light industrial tools, materials & equipment
  • Strongly motivated to become a journeyman electrician

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive material per established procedures for retrofit & service projects, including:
    • Offload incoming material, inspect/document any damage, verify quantities
    • Verify correct materials & properly document/resolve discrepancies
    • Reconcile material with purchase orders & project tracking
    • Correctly label & shelve materials for projects
    • Sort & stage materials by job site, area, and material type
  • Load trucks with material & supplies for projects, coordinating with Project Management & site leads
  • Deliver material to job sites & clients, documenting per established procedures, including long trips, occasionally out-of-town/overnight
  • Offload & stage material on job sites
  • Load scrap & recycling material from job sites for removal
  • Perform & document routine inspection & maintenance of company vehicles, including SUVs, cargo vans, bucket & box trucks, forklifts, scissor lifts
  • Break down, sort, stage & load scrap material, working with our salvage partners
  • Clean & maintain the warehouse & lot
  • Assist in shelf counts, order materials & supplies
  • Assist in annual inventory
  • Other duties as directed by supervisors
