For years, Lumenal Lighting has been proud to support large-scale modernization efforts for Portland Public Schools (PPS) working in close collaboration with Ameresco, Inc. to deliver efficient, compliant, and reliable upgrades across the district.

To date, we have successfully completed 60+ projects at Portland Public Schools, encompassing everything from interior and exterior LED lighting retrofits to low-voltage electrical infrastructure work. Each project reflects a coordinated, energy-driven approach designed to meet the technical, financial, and operational needs of a large public school district.

Comprehensive Lighting Retrofits Across the District

Working alongside Ameresco and PPS, our team has retrofitted dozens of school buildings through detailed fixture audits, application-specific LED design, and careful installation planning. Typical project scopes across the district have included:

  • Retrofitting fluorescent T8 systems with LED ballast-bypass lamps
  • Replacing compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) with LED equivalents
  • Upgrading HID and CFL exterior wall packs to high-efficiency LED fixtures
  • Replacing exterior sidewalk and area lighting, parking lots.

Beyond Lighting: Low-Voltage & Infrastructure Support

In addition to lighting retrofits, Lumenal has supported PPS through multi-school low-voltage wiring projects, coordinating with Ameresco-issued drawings to pull and install wiring for building systems.
